Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Harry Ortiz-Dasta is a fashion designer whose journey into fashion design followed an unconventional path. After serving in the United States Navy, he returned to his lifelong dream of becoming a fashion designer and pursued his studies at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. His practice reflects a fascination with the human experience, exploring clothing as an extension of identity, emotion, and personal expression.

Rooted in historical dress, traditional craftsmanship, and material experimentation, his approach to design exists between discipline and intuition. Drawn to the relationship between body and garment, Ortiz-Dasta explores the expressive possibilities of construction, reinterpreting established techniques through contemporary perspective. Each creation becomes an investigation into form, individuality, and the beauty found within contradiction.

Central to this philosophy is the belief that fashion extends beyond its physical function. Clothing becomes a language of its own, capable of preserving memory, expressing vulnerability, and revealing aspects of the self that words cannot always articulate. Through meticulous craftsmanship and an instinctive exploration of materials, each garment carries traces of its creation, reflecting the intimate relationship between maker, material, and body.

With aspirations of one day contributing to a haute couture house in Paris, Ortiz-Dasta continues to master his craft. Guided by the reverence for traditional techniques and an appreciation for the unconventional, his work remains an evolving exploration of what it means to create, to become, and to give form to what remains unspoken.
